LEED Project Description:
Columbia has converted all of its hardwood plywood facilities to a proprietary formaldehyde-free manufacturing system called PureBond®. Cost-competitive with the similar urea formaldehyde (UF)-made hardwood plywood, Columbia's PureBond® formula is derived naturally, then enhanced with a proprietary resin, giving it particularly strong bonding and wafer-resistance qualities. And better yet, it enables Columbia to completely eliminate formaldehyde from its standard veneer-core decorative panel production. In line with a growing focus on indoor air quality within the architectural community, Columbia's formaldehyde-free decorative panels are also compliant with the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) standards. Varied core options, such as No Added Urea Formaldehyde (NAUF) particleboard and MDF (medium density fiberboard), can be used to manufacturer hardwood plywood. Use of such composite core options will allow contribution to LEED® MR 4.1 & 4.2 Recycled Content.
Wurth Wood Group obtained Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in July 2007. All of our wood-based locations carry the FSC Multi-Site Chain of Custody SW-CoC-002475 and can provide FSC lumber upon your request. Chain of Custody certification ensures that materials are tracked throughout the production process so that end customers can be confident of the sourcing of the wood that they select.
